Ilia Beauty Mascara in Macao

Ilia Beauty has a new line of mascaras out.  I am happy to report that I found a fairly local place that sells Ilia Beauty, woohoo! Bella Rouge Cosmetic & Skincare Boutique in Clifton Park is a great spot to try out cosmetics and they have Ilia.  I got to try out the new mascara, loved it and picked it up as well as some new lipsticks from the line.

For my coloring, she opted to try out Macao, which is a coppery hued mascara.  Normally I would not go for this but it looked great on, felt like nothing was on my lashes, so light and gentle but looked so pretty and really brought out the golden tones in my hazel eyes.

The Ilia Mascara line has 4 shades right now.   Nightfall (black), Asphalt Jungle (charcoal gray), Macao (Copper) and Shadow of a Doubt (Ash Brown).  I expected to buy Shadow of a Doubt since my hair is an ashy brown but my coloring asked for Macao and I love it! It was so nice to see a different look to my eyes.  This mascara feels good on, it barely feels like I have anything on.  I am not rubbing my eyes or tugging on my lashes.  The applicator is different too.  It fits very tightly in the mascara tube so it removes any chance for clumps.  You kind of need to wiggle it back into the tube, that is how tightly it fits but it is flexible so it is okay to wiggle it around.  The mascaras retail for $24 each and I think this is a product worth splurging on if you want a great natural product that nourishes your lashes and feels light on.  If you want ginormous lashes, you probably want to go another route.  For natural, soft and a nice pop to your eyes, this is a great mascara for you.
Me with no mascara
Me with just mascara on, no makeup
Side by Side Comparison: No Mascara left, Mascara on Right

A look with Bare Minerals Great As Gold - Grays

Now that I have worn all of my mineral eyeshadows and liners without any repeats, even the sample jars, I can play and wear any colors until I decide what to do next.  My first look that I wanted to post is a look with Bare Minerals Great as Gold.  I opted for the neutral gray shades for this one and really like how it turned out.

I am wearing:
  • 100% Pure Luminous Primer for face & eyes
  • Bare Minerals original foundation in Golden Fair
  • Bare Minerals Bisque as concealer
  • Bare Minerals Warmth as all over face color
  • Bare Minerals original Mineral Veil
  • Alima Pure Luminous Shimmer Blush in Black Raspberry
  • Bare Minerals Blissful Beige from lash to above crease
  • Bare Minerals Splendid Stone on lids
  • Bare Minerals Stunning Slate in crease & V
  • Bare Minerals Midnight Diamond Wetlined
  • 100% Pure Mascara in Black Tea

W3LL People Universalist Luminous Multi-Use Colorstick

The last W3ll People item I got in my Pure Citizen sale haul was the Universalist Luminous Multi-Use Colorstick in #3.  #3 is a peachy pinky bronze shade.  It seemed very versatile and in my color scheme so this was the one I picked.

This Multi-Use Colorstick is quite the time saver and multitasker.  You can apply it anywhere you need a color boost.  Apply it to your cheeks, eyes, lips, etc.  Any or all of the above.  I love a good multitasker product.  This is the sort of go to product you want in your purse or your desk at work or your car if temperatures allow for safe storage.  Wear it all day or grab it when you start to feel a little worn out and need a lift.  It will wake up your face and give you a nice warm awake look. A little blush or bronzer can make a big difference and this product can do the same thing.

These retail for $33 so it can be a little pricey but it is a well made and reliable product full of good for you natural ingredients.  Luckily I was able to grab it up on sale. The texture is nice and smooth and it blends out really nicely.  My only complaint was the smell, not horrible but nowhere near as nice as other W3ll People products I have used.  I am sure that is because their lippies smell awesome and this just smells normal LOL I guess all my makeup can't smell like vanilla, berries or fruit stripe gum.  Oh well, it is still a really great product.

Blended out on the left so you can see how easily you can blend out the color or have it more opaque light on the right

Rad Soap Co. - Score Extreme

Another must have product from local company, Rad Soap Co. is Score Extreme.  This is a fantastic natural body cream to help with aches and pains, bruising and dry skin, all in one!  As many of you know, I have been dealing with some pain issues and this cream has been a blessing.  Even my boyfriend requests it for his back or shoulders.

One of the key ingredients, arnica, is a widely used homeopathic remedy for aches, pains and sprains.  I have seen it used by massage therapists and athletes. It also uses St. John's Wart & Lemongrass.  Both have many healing properties.  Best thing about this cream...it works!  When I picked it up at my local arts & crafts festival, people had tried it out and were swarming the table for it.  I knew arnica was good stuff and wanted to give it a try.  After seeing the many people rushing back to buy it, I knew I needed a large size jar and grabbed it up.

I have tendonitis and bursitis in both shoulders and I have been dealing with protective muscle spasms that would not release all along the right side of my spine (finally getting better, woohoo!) as well as inflammation in my lower spinal facet joints and my SI joints in my hips (also finally getting better, woohoo!), among some other issues.  I have even used this on my feet because they can get quite sore due to flat feet symptoms and wearing orthotics. I have used it for all of the above and more.  I love this stuff.  It is a staple in my home.

Why use some chemical pain relief treatment when there is an awesome natural one that works?  It is worth a try, isn't it?  I am not saying that if you are medicated by a physician to give that up and use this but if you get common aches and pains or want this in addition to medication, I think you should give it a try.  It has helped me a lot.

Available in 2 sizes:
2 oz for $12 http://www.radsoap.com/SCORE-EXTREME-p/xcscore02.htm
and 4 oz for $20 http://www.radsoap.com/SCORE-EXTREME-p/xcscore01.htm

Super Body Butter for Muscle Aches, Arthritis, Bruising, Dry Skin

Arnica, St. John Wart & Lemongrass are the primaries in this wellness product

Use immediately after strenuous exertion or injury to prevent, relieve and reduce swelling, bruises and pain. SCORE Extreme absorbs well, and is soothing to the skin

For centuries, Europeans have considered Arnica the leading herb for easing muscles aches and pains. And for nearly as long, American Indians used a variant of the herb grown in the U.S. to heal skin ailments, relieve muscle pain and soothe wounds.

The carrier oils are olive oil and unrefined-hemp seed oil with Shea butter which have many benefits to the skin. We include Arnica, St. John Wart, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Rosemary, Lemon and Eucalyptus as additional oils.

W3LL People Paganist Lipgloss

Another W3LL People product I had to try out during the sale on Pure Citizen was Paganist Lipgloss.  I ordered it in both Pink Twinkle and Gold Twinkle and I am so glad that I did.  This gloss is so pretty and it smells amazing.  It has a great opalescent look and makes lips look really plump.  The scent is natural and sweet and so yummy.  Pink Twinkle smells like Fruit Stripe gum but lasts longer than the flavor of Fruit Stripe gum LOL

Moisturizing, pretty and downright yummy.  This is a fantastic gloss. They retail for $12.50 each but right now, they have the duo on W3LL People's website for the price of one, $21.50.   Pink Twinkle is #1 and Gold Twinkle is #2.

Re-Body Saffron Hunger Chews

The latest product that I have gotten to try out through the Naturally Savvy Blogger Program is Re-Body Saffron Hunger Chews.  You can find Naturally Savvy at http://www.naturallysavvy.com/  and Re-Body at  https://www.myrebody.com/

These chews are supposed to help control your appetite and those urges to snack. Directions say to have 2 per day, one in the morning and one in the evening before meals. An ingredient found in saffron is said to help reduce hunger. They are made from naturally derived ingredients and there is no milk, egg or corn syrup so I was willing to give them a try.

I am currently reducing my sugar intake.  I consume no refined sugar, minimal amounts of natural cane sugar or syrups and absolutely no artificial sweeteners.  I will only use a little Xylitol or Stevia.  I am also trying to reduce my white flour intake as well as my overall wheat and gluten intake.  This is my effort to get healthier, reduce inflammation in my system and hopefully be at a healthier more comfortable weight.

If you are a carbaholic like I am and you try to cut back on these foods, you feel like you are going to lose your mind, especially for the first days of it.  After a while, you start to feel more like you can do it.  I tried these chews when I was starting this lifestyle change.  It isn't a diet, it is a change in my lifestyle.

The chews are small, about the size of a small chewy candy or vitamin.  They are a little sticky on the outside so I did need to clean my hands after eating one.  They aren't like some supplement chews I have had that feel more like a Starburst candy in texture.  It is a bit grittier in texture, nothing bad though and I am a picky eater so when I say it isn't bad, it is probably pretty mild to people who don't have food texture issues LOL   The flavor is said to be Mandarin Orange and to me it was super super sweet.  If you life sweet, you shouldn't have a problem with these.  I almost wonder if part of the extreme sweet taste helps curb your desire for sweets?  Who knows!   Do they work?  No clue. I am cutting my sugar and flour intake and keeping up with it.  Is it sheer will power, do the chews help, I can't say but I will happily take any natural help I can get.

The chews can be found on the Re-Body website at https://www.myrebody.com/Products/SaffronHungerChewCaps and they retail for $24.99.  Check out their site for more info.

Mineral Makeup Nirvana FINALLY reached

It took me over a year to wear every single loose mineral eyeshadow I own, even samples, but I did it. I am sure it would have been done sooner had I not had a rough year of oversleeping and sometimes just not feeling up to bothering with makeup.  You might not believe it, a beauty blogger and mineral makeup addict not wanting to wear makeup, but sadly it did happen.  Sometimes life happens and interferes with our mood and what we enjoy.  I am happy to report that I am feeling much better.  Life feels more stable, my health is improving a lot and I feel happier.

The last colors I needed to wear towards the end were all reds and blues, not really surprising.  Let's just say, I have a very bold eye look going on today and I normally wouldn't go so blue.

I did a final count in January when I posted an update.  Here are the details.

My inventory and nirvana report for 2012:

I own (this count does not include any items I have set aside for selling or gifting):

367 full size jars of Bare Mineral eyecolors + 12 new shades for a total of 379
79 mini jars of Bare Minerals eyecolors
81 samples or 1/2 jars of Bare Minerals eyecolors
16 full size Alima Pure eyecolors
31 samples of Alima Pure eyecolors
10 Monave eyecolors
27 Pure Luxe eyecolors (some are samples)
3 Juice Beauty eyecolors
52 The She Space eyecolors
1 Everyday Minerals eyecolor
2 Lotus Organics eyecolors
3 Dust Minerals eyecolors
2 Au Naturale eyecolors

For a Grand Total of...... 686!  The number is less daunting if you only count full size colors but I tend to want to wear them all so the total count, including all samples and 1/2 jars is 686.

Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick Trio in Natural Nudes

On with the holiday lippie haul reviews! My next review is of the Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick Trio in Natural Nudes.  I got this from Sephora.  You get 3 full size lipsticks for $36, not bad considering that a single lipstick costs $24.

This set has 3 nude shades.  You get Retsina, Cava and Pepper.  Out of the 3, Pepper is my absolute fave.  It is an amazing shade and has a deeper tone to it than the others.  It also looks awesome with my coloring so of course I love it LOL

These lipsticks are creamy and feel great on.  They leave your lips feeling nice.  You do need to reapply, especially since these are nude shades, but you need to reapply most natural lippies so that isn't a bad thing.  If you are looking to try this brand or need a nice nude lipstick, check this kit out. You really can't beat the deal.  I wanted Pepper and got 2 more lipsticks for the price of half of one!

Cava and Retsina are really light neutral shades.  I think these will look a lot better on me during summer when I wear bronzer and see plenty of sunshine.  Right now, I think light neutrals make me look a little too pale unless I want to do a really dramatic eye look.

Rad Soap Co's Wonderland Chaga Body Cream

I love to support local business so when I find an amazing one that is from my area, I want to share them with the world.  I want to talk about Rad Soap Co and their awesome Wonderland Chaga Body Cream.

I discovered Rad Soap Co at a local arts and crafts festival and am so glad that I found out that they not only have a website but they also can be found at many local area farmer's markets on weekends.  I have seen them at the fabulous Green Market in Schenectady NY but they also can be found in Troy and Syracuse NY.  If you don't live anywhere near here, you can order online.  Tell them Heather at Beauty Au Natural sent you!

The Wonderland Chaga Body Cream is one of the items in my top choices for natural holiday gifts in 2012 and I have been using it for a while and love it so I wanted to give it a full post.  You can pretty much use this product almost anywhere.  You can even use it under your eyes! The smell is delicious.  My boyfriend tells me I smell like a creamsicle when I wear it but there is more to the scent than that.  This scent is sweet and yummy and makes me feel happy so I tend to like to wear it daily on my décolletage. It doubles as a great body cream and a personal scent.  I would love for people to smell this and think of me.
