Just Neem's Neem Cuticle Care Pen

Another item that I was sent to review from Just Neem was their Neem Cuticle Car Pen.  This nifty little pen is really cool.  You click it until oil comes out to apply to your cuticles.  No fuss, not much mess at all.  I love it!

If you remember my past posts with pictures of nail polish colors, I constantly apologize or complain about the state of my cuticles.  This pen was just what I needed. I apply this to my cuticles every night before bed and wake up with great looking cuticles!   It is so much easier than trying to apply a messy cuticle butter or balm or other treatment.  A simple click, swish and put the cap back on.  I not only apply it to my cuticles but the skin around my nail and my fingernail if they look a bit dry.

This pen retails for $9.50 and you can find it on their website at: http://www.justneem.com/shop/body/hands-and-feet/neem-cuticle-care-pen/

Badger Damascus Rose SPF 16 Face Sunscreen Lotion

Finding a natural sunscreen is extremely important to me for 3 reasons. #1 I am extremely allergic to sunscreen chemicals.  #2 I tend to burn more now that I am on birth control pills. #3 I want to keep my skin healthy and protected.

Badger sent me their new Damascus Rose SPF 16 Face Sunscreen Lotion to test out and review.  I tested it out on vacation on a bright sunny day, at the lake and at a cookout.  I have to say, this is a really nice natural sunscreen for your face.  Most natural sunscreens are a bit heavy and oily so it is hard to find one you want to put on your face. This one looks opaque when you pump it but blends out nicely and doesn't feel heavy at all.  My skin loved it.  It also works great for your neck and decolletage.  I even tested it out on my arms one time.

I know many need some sort of sunscreen for their face, even if they wear mineral makeup that has built in sun protection. This would be great worn under mineral makeup or on its own.  I opted to just wear this to the lake.  I think I might use this most on my neck and decolletage since they get more exposure to the sun and are very delicate skin areas.

This is light & creamy, blends out well and smells delightful.  It is a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects from both UVA and UVB rays and is free of nanoparticles.  They are also Leaping Bunny certified so they are cruelty free. You get a .85 oz bottle for $17.99 and they frequently have sales going on so it is great to keep an eye out for those and stock up. Badger continues to be my #1 choice in natural sunscreen for body and now face.

Just Neem - Neem Clay Mask

Many thanks to my reader friend who asked me if I had heard of Just Neem.  I hadn't heard of them, though I had heard of neem oil, and decided to look into it further.  I was sent one of their new face masks to try out, the Neem Clay Mask.  I've been extremely busy in the past months, dealing with a sick kitty, an injured boyfriend, work conferences and projects and trying to fit a vacation & garage sale into the middle of it all.  Needless to say, I was in desperate need of some pampering and me time.  I was so happy to see this mask sitting in my bathroom.  It was a great way to pamper myself and unwind for 10-15 minutes.  Sometimes it is good to stop everything for a little while and just breathe.

It was obvious there is sunflower oil in the mask when I opened it.  I could see some of it on top of the clay mixture so I gently mixed it back in with my hands before applying to my face.  I applied a thin layer to my face.  I could feel some exfoliating granules along with the clay and oil. At first it felt very cool and tingly on my face.  Remember that feeling when we were kids and used Noxema or Seabreeze, far from natural but that fresh cool tingle on my face used to feel so good.  Of course, back then, we all wanted to be like that Noxema commercial girl.  Well, this natural face mask gives that same sensation! It also feels warming at the same time.  It is a very cool feeling and hard to describe.  Once I had the mask on for about 15 minutes, I gently rinsed it off...with cool water as directed.  I normally rinse my face with warm water so this was a change.  The cool water felt so nice on my skin.  The mask came off very easily, not like some masks where you have to keep trying to wipe your face, sometimes so hard your poor skin turns red.

My face glowed and felt so soft.  I always love to stroke my face when I use a product like this and it feels like baby skin.  I highly recommend this lovely mask.  It is gentle, cleansing yet hydrating, easy to use and remove and gives you a little 10-15 minute me time break.

The masks normally retails for $24.95 but is currently on sale for $21.95.  Check it out at their site: http://www.justneem.com/

Honeybee Gardens Eye Liner in Envy

One of the items I purchased from Honeybee Gardens to try out was their eye liner pencil.  I picked Envy which is an emerald green shade.

The pencil works well.  It applies smoothly and you can layer the color for more boldness.  It feels light on.  The color lasts.  I was quite happy with this.  My only complaint is the same one I have of most pencils...sometimes the wooden part of the pencil doesn't all sharpen away so be careful and don't press too hard on your eye when applying.  For $7.99, this is a great natural beauty buy.

A pic of me wearing Mojito from their Party Girl Shadow Palette along with Envy Liner and their Truly Natural Mascara.

Info from the Honeybee Gardens Website
Enhance and define the natural beauty of your eyes with confidence. This smooth, jojoba-based formula won't drag or pull delicate skin. Glides on gently and fluidly from the moment you open it. Easy to apply for a perfect, long-wearing look.

PARABEN FREE

Comes in 7 great colors:

Brown Sugar - light brown
Belgian Chocolate - dark brown
Jet Set - black
Smoking Gun - charcoal
Blue Jeans - deep navy blue
Passion *NEW* - deep smokey plum
Envy *NEW* - rich deep emerald green

JobaColors Eye Liner Ingredients:  ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, ozokerite wax, ethylhexyl palmitate (vegetarian), simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, lanolin oil, beeswax, theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, cetearyl alcohol (vegetarian), copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax. May Contain: black iron oxide, brown iron oxide, mica.

Here are some tips for sharpening your pencils:

1) Never press the pencil into the sharpener. Place the tip gently into the sharpener and twist, allowing the blade to do all the work. The JobaColors Eye Liner is a bit softer than most eye liner formulas, allowing it to glide easily on the skin without pulling the delicate tissue. Therefore, more care needs to be taken when sharpening.

2) Never sharpen to a sharp point.

3) Always make sure you twist 360 degrees, and only do this once. Check the pencil. If it is not sharp enough, twist 360 degrees again. This ensures an even tip.

4) Use a good, sharp sharpener. Ours works great!

Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes

I was sent Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes to review.  These wipes are intended for make up removal. You get 30 in a package.  A portion of the sales of these wipes go towards helping save the polar bears.  I am a big polar bear fan so I definitely wanted to test these out.

The wipes smell very pleasant, not too strong or astringent.  They feel soft on your skin too.  I found them to work similarly to other facial towelettes I have tried.  They removed my make up and my face was left feeling very fresh.  These are great for travel or to toss in your bag for a day out.  I saw a suggestion in a review on the product page that said to cut them in half so you get twice as many uses.  What a great green idea! Save some money too!

Info from the Josie Maran Website

Erase your face not the polar bear race!

In support of the Natural Resources Defense Council's Polar Bear SOS initiative, a portion of every package sold will go to protect these endangered animals. To learn more or get involved, please visit www.polarbearsos.org

Honeybee Gardens Party Girl Eye Shadow Palette

I reviewed the mascara from Honeybee Gardens a while ago.  The next item from my sale order is their Party Girl Eye Shadow Palette.  It took me a while to decide which palette to test out but these bright colors called my name.  Once they ran their 20% off special, I knew it was time to place my order.

The palette packaging is adorable.  I absolutely love it for that!  Then add that the eye colors have a soft consistency, apply smoothly, work well with my make up brushes and last well.  They aren't dry pressed eyeshadows.  You just work your brush into the color a bit and apply to your lid.  I found them to apply very easily and have a soft feel on.  I can barely tell that I have make up on my eyes because it doesn't feel like it.  When I look in the mirror, I sure can see it with these gorgeous bright shades.  Even though these colors look bright and bold in the palette, you can do a softer look with them.  It is all about layering.  If you want to go bold, pick up more color with your brush and layer away.  If you want soft and more subtle, go lightly with your brush and don't layer so much.  They can apply sheer or more opaque depending on your technique.  I have to say, I am really happy I ordered these.  The palettes retail for $29.99 which isn't bad for 4 colors and a little brush.  Keep your eyes out for Honeybee Gardens facebook page announcements or emails and you might be able to get a sale or promo!

Top R to L: Velour, Mojito  Bottom R to L: Cupcake, Shipwreck

Dr. Hauschka Facial Toner

The other product I purchased when I had a consult with a Dr. Hauschka certified esthetician was their Facial Toner.  Their philosophy is to use this instead of moisturizer at night because skin needs to breathe.  It sounded good to me so I tried it out.  Every night, I cleanse my face, then apply this to my face  & neck.  I use a little eye cream and treat any blemishes and that is it.  No heavy night cream or moisturizer.  So far, my skin seems really happy with this change.  I notice an obvious change in the size of my pores!!! It retails for about $34.99 but it lasts quite a while, especially if you only use it at night.

Info from the Dr. Hauschka Website

Scotch Naturals Nail Polish

I ordered Scotch Naturals nail polish from Spirit Beauty Lounge and tested it out on my toes this week. Scotch Naturals are water based nontoxic nail polishes. These are much more natural than 3 free polishes which are still a great low chemical alternative. You can find them at http://www.scotchnaturals.com

I applied 2 coats of this polish, then added a coat of Zoya Armor topcoat. So far this polish has held up great with no chipping or color wear. I've worn various shoes and have done a ton of walking so I'm impressed. I tested both the colors I bought by applying one color to each foot LOL So far no one seems to have noticed. The colors are bold and vibrant. I think this is a great water based nail polish but do recommend using a topcoat to seal it on better. These retail for $14.99.

The colors I chose to test out were Ceasefire and Loch Ness Mystery. They were a deep green and rich teal. Beautiful!

Info from Scotch Naturals website:

Scotch Naturals WaterColors
Our polish comes in 30 jaw-dropping colors.

On the Rocks Top Coat
Our deluxe top coat protects nails from scratches and provides an extra boost of shine.

Base Coat
Our fortifying base coat nourishes nails while providing the perfect foundation for our polishes. Our base coat significantly extends the life of Scotch Naturals WaterColors assisting in adhesion and durability.

Soy Polish Remover
Our soy polish remover has been formulated to remove both water-based and solvent-based nail polish safely and naturally.

For the Perfect Finish
In order to achieve beautiful, healthy, salon-quality nails it is essential to prep them properly:
Remove any existing nail polish and shape as usual.
Add a drop of jojoba oil to each nail and buff gently.
Wash hands with soap and water to rinse remover residue and buffing dust.
Apply 1 coat of our fortifying base coat.
Follow with 2 coats of polish allowing 1-3 minutes in between coats.
Finish with our deluxe/top coat for a high gloss shine.

Please remember, this is a water-based nail product. While it dries to the touch in minutes, it needs a few hours to cure fully prior to prolonged exposure to water. We encourage painting tips and toes before bed, allowing polish to dry and adhere overnight.

Polish Remover: For easiest removal, soak nails in warm water for a few minutes. Pre-moisten all nails with remover allowing time for polish to soften. Then moisten cotton pad and rub across nail to remove. You can also remove any remaining polish using an orange stick. After removal, thoroughly rinse nails.

Ingredients:

WaterColors
water, acrylic polymer emulsion, butoxy diglycol and non-toxic colorants

Soy Polish Remover

Dr. Hauschka Translucent Bronze Concentrate

A while ago I wrote about a consultation appt I had with an esthetician, certified in Dr. Hauschka skincare.  I picked up a few products to try out, some samples and some full size at 20% off and wanted to use them for a while before I reviewed them.

Today I want to talk about Translucent Bronze Concentrate.  This has become a daily necessity to me.  I wear it in the morning with my moisturizer.  You can use it with any moisturizer.  I currently use it with Acure Organics Oil Control Day Cream, or if I am having a day when I need more moisture boost, I wear some Burt's Bees Radiance Day Cream.  I also plan to test it out with Indie Lee Squalane Facial Oil as the esthetician said it would work well with that too.

You place your moisturizer in your hand, then a tiny dot of the translucent bronze concentrate and mix them together.  Then you gently apply it to your face.  I am pretty fair toned, though I tan and have some olive undertones from my dad's side of the family.  This works well for me.  I don't feel overly made up or artificially bronzed.  It acts as a bit of a bronzer for your face depending on how much you use and you don't need a lot.  I apply it to my face and neck area.

My skin looks and feels great and has a nice canvas for applying my mineral make up afterwards.  It gives a nice even tone and a lovely glow.  On a no make up day, this would totally give me that little boost I need to feel like I look healthier and more radiant. It retails for 39.95 but lasts for a long time.  You can also mix it with body moisturizers and apply it to your body.  I haven't tried that yet but might want to test it out on my pale legs soon.
