You get 1 entry for the blog comment and 1 entry for facebook and 1 entry for Twitter so that totals 3 entries if you can do all 3 of those.  If you do not have Facebook, then enter on Twitter so that = 2 entries, one for Twitter and one for the blog comment.  If you do not have Twitter, then enter on Facebook and that = 2 entries, one for Facebook and one for the blog comment.  If you do not have Facebook or Twitter, then you can post here and still have a chance to enter with 1 entry.

Also make sure you tell me which of the prizes you want to enter to win. If  you also post on facebook, please post that in the same blog comment as telling me you posted on twitter (see the example of a comment post above).
***Please note, if your Twitter automatically enters your facebook status for you, just say that here in your comment, it will count as 2 entries, you do not have to go and re-post on facebook***

3.  BLOG COMMENT You get 1 entry if you simply post a comment here on the blog, see below and post your comment and tell me which of the prizes you want to enter to win. If you post on facebook &/or Twitter and post here, that counts as your 1 blog comment entry too. Make sure you include enough of your name in your comment so we will know who you are if you win!

This makes for a total of 3 possible entries for this giveaway.  Make sure you tell me which prizes you want to enter to win by stating: Prize 1, Prize 2 or Prize 3 or Prize 4 or any combo of them.  Entries will be chosen at random and winners will be notified by a post here on the blog and on the Beauty Au Natural Facebook page and my Twitter page.

You asked for it! A Bare Escentuals Video Tutorial

After many requests, I finally have a great camera, a good set up, decent lighting and a video tutorial to share with you.  It took a lot of time so I'm sorry for the delay.  I got a Flip Cam for my bday and used that for the first time with a tripod.  I had to adjust my beauty area a bit but it eventually worked out well.  I have a few more tweaks to make and should start getting the hang of it soon so I can start posting more.  This was my trial run and I don't think it came out too bad.  I started filming, got interrupted by my BF yelling to ask me a question, then the cat started playing and yowling in the middle of it.  After all of that, things seemed to go well but I started to lean down too far towards my mirror and could not be seen by the camera LOL I did some editing to get rid of all that and also to get the video to be under the Youtube 10 minute limit. I hope you enjoy it.  I tried to take some hints you gave me before when I tried to make videos and implemented them here.

Protect Yourself with BE's SPF 30 Sunscreen

Here is a cute video from my friends Jensen & Jas.  Their mom said I could post it here on my blog to share with all of you since they give me a shout out and they are teaching you how important it is to use sunscreen on your kids and yourself. Where were they when I forgot my sunscreen in the car and got a farmer's tan in NYC? LOL

My Zoya Earth Day Nail Polish Exchange Colors

I got my order from the ZOYA earth day promotion pretty quickly.  For this promo, you had a special code to use when ordering, you paid $4 for each nail polish as shipping, which comes up to about half off.  When you receive your order, you send Zoya nail polishes so they can be properly disposed of.  I had tons of icky old nail polishes that I was happy to part with in an earth friendly way.

I have been so busy, I have not had a chance to test them out and take pics until now.  All of these pics were taken with my ottlite as lighting to help give truer color depictions.  Please excuse my poorly manicured hands.  Zoya is not all natural but it is one of the nail polish companies that does not use the "Big 3" chemicals that many nail polishes do use.

Bare Escentuals QVC Anniversary Shows & My 10 year BE Anniversary

Not only is it the anniversary of Bare Escentuals first airing on QVC but it is also my 10 year anniversary of wearing Bare Escentuals.  It might not seem like a big deal to some, but that was really the turning point for me.  When I started to get into make up again because I could wear it again without any reactions.  It was also when I started to get into natural products, though it took me a while to switch to all natural beauty products, this was the beginning for me.  It all started on May 31, 2001 when I ordered the Summer in the City Collection from QVC.  The kit came with City Lights Glimpse, Summer Glimmer, Lip Quickie #1, Neutral Lip Liner, a small Warmth and 3 brushes.  It also came in the most adorable packaging, a box that looked like a little handbag.  Loved it! Needless to say, I eventually gave up most other make up brands and was a Bare Escentuals girl from then on out.  I do try other natural brands but it seems like BE is the one that always keeps me coming back.

So anyway, it is time for their annual Anniversary Shows on QVC. They usually have some really good deals and of course, new products.   Here is the info:
Friday, May 20
10 am—12 pm EDT
7 pm—9 pm EDT

Saturday, May 21
1 am—3 am EDT
3 pm—5 pm EDT

Sunday, May 22
4 pm—6 pm EDT
9 pm—11 pm EDT

If you want the scoop on the new stuff coming out, visit Mineral Madness for the item info and pics.  Item numbers will be available as they become available on QVC.com.  I usually post them on my facebook page for this blog when they are up and running.

My Natural Deodorant Search Update - I found a winner!

It has been a while since I updated you on my search to find a natural deodorant that works well, lasts, doesn't leave gunk on clothes and doesn't contain harmful aluminum or parabens.  Well, I think I may have finally found a winner with a special prize for runner up.After trying all kinds of pricey natural alternatives, some of which I had reactions to and could not even wear, I came up with a top 2 and they are both under $6!

And my top choice for natural deodorant is: (drumroll please!)
DeoDry™ Dry-Effect Deodorant Cool & Zesty Stick from the Body Shop!
I finally picked this up a while ago and tested it out since I got home from NYC.  The scent is a little strong but pleasant, nothing bad.  I am just sensitive to scents so I notice it sometimes.  It goes on clear.  It seems to last all day. It lasted through my 1 hour gym workout! Best part, it only costs $5.  It also comes in Floral and Chilled & Breezy scents.  The Zesty scent was most my style. I am very happy with this one and hope it keeps up the good work LOL

Ingredients list from the Body Shop website:
Propylene Glycol, Water, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Ceteth-20, Perlite, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance, Alcohol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Limonene, Eucalyptus Radiata Leaf Oil, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf Oil, Citral, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Cymbopogon Flexuosus Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Linalool, Eugenol, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Bud Oil, Satureia Montana Oil, Geraniol.

And the Runner Up is:
ARM & HAMMER ESSENTIALS® Natural Deodorant in Fresh Scent
This is available in most drugstores and even grocery stores.  That is where I found it.  I got itat the grocery store and was quite impressed.  I don't mind the scent at all.  It applies clear.  It lasts pretty well though you might need to reapply, especially on a warm day or for a workout. You can generally find it for under $4.  This doesn't last quite as long as the one above but it is a great second choice.

List of ingredients from Drugstore.com:
Dipropylene Glycol, Water, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) (Baking Soda), Coriandrum Sativum (Coriander) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Essential Oil, Lavandula Hybrida (Lavender) Oil, Fragrance, Triclosan, Tetrasodium EDTA, Allantoin (Comfrey Root)

I am not stating that these are 100% natural, they are just the best option I have found that does not contain parabens or aluminum. Thank you.

My Weekend in NYC: The After Party

After my birthday party at the Bare Escentuals boutique in Times Square, we went to check in at our hotel. Ashley came a long way for my party so we spent the rest of the weekend together.  It was her first trip to NYC so I had lots of fun planning what to do with her and getting to do things I've always wanted to try in NYC.

We stayed at The Element Times Square West.  We had found a deal on hotels.com and this was one that looked really nice and was in a location that would be easy to get to from the boutique and from Penn Station.  It was even nicer than we expected! We paid $20 more for a room with a view and ended up on the top floor with an amazing view of NYC.  We could see the Empire State Building from our room. It also had a full kitchenette and a really nice bathroom with all natural amenities.
View from hotel room
We headed to the Village for dinner at Bar Pitti on recommendation from a friend.  Such delicious Italian food and Italian waiters LOL We shared some Fettunta and each had Penne Strascicate. I always eat the yummiest pasta in NYC. After devouring our dinner, we walked to Amy's Bread and I bought 2 huge slices of my favorite vanilla cake with pink frosting.  Happy Birthday to me!

Amy's Bread - Simply Yellow Cake with Pink Icing is the best!

From there, we headed to Sweet Revenge for dessert and a cocktail.  I had an old fashioned creamsicle (a frozen wine slushy, mine was made with soy milk) and a Sweet Revenge cupcake (Peanut Butter Cake, Ganache Filling with Peanut Butter Fudge Frosting).  Ashley had a dirty dark chocolate truffle cocktail and a Dirty Cupcake (Valrhona Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Truffle).  We shared our cupcakes and I have to say, a bite of each at the same time was the best and their ganache was amazing!
Sweet Revenge Cupcake

After dessert, we headed to the Comedy Cellar. We had 9:15 reservations.  The line was pretty long but we got great seats with a fantastic view of the comedians.  It was a little cramped but well worth it.  We saw Myq Kaplan, Neal Brennan, a guy whose name I think is Billy Manchington (couldn't find any info on him), Robert Kelly and Sherrod Small.  The MC for the show was Keith Robinson. We had so much fun.  It was hysterical and it just got better and better as the night went on.  That isn't the cocktails talking.

After that, we walked to Washington Park.  You can't miss it on a trip to the Village. From there, we grabbed a cab (we think, it was unmarked, the cocktails had taken over our brains). The so-called cab did take us to Times Square which I knew Ashley had to see at night on her first trip to NYC.  We snapped pics, saw ourselves on the big web cam and eventually walked until we found The Pig n' Whistle Pub.  It was pretty quiet in there at this time of the night but their drink specials were amazing, $5 each! We enjoyed some Ryan's Razz Rocket cocktails and chatted away.  From there, we spotted a 24-hour White Castle which made up for the lack of food after midnight at the Pub.  I skipped late night noms just because my tummy gets mad with I eat too late but Ashley had been hungry so it worked out perfectly.  We headed back to the hotel and stayed up way too late giggling and chatting and wondering how the balloon from my bday decorations stuck to the ceiling all night even though it wasn't filled with helium LOL

On Sunday, I dragged myself downstairs and grabbed a much needed english muffin and tea from the hotel breakfast.  We finished getting ready and checked out.  We had brunch at Pigalle.  We sipped mimosas and I had french toast and she had an omelet with french style home fries and toast.  All I can say is yumm and I absolutely loved the ambiance and decor of the place.  We were pretty beat from the busy Saturday and doing lots of walking so we opted to do the Downtown Loop bus tour from Gray Line Tours which we had passed on the way to brunch. It was the perfect way to spend the last bit of our trip.  Enjoy the sunshine and the sights.

My NYC Bare Escentuals Birthday Party!

Last year I did San Francisco for my birthday and this year I went to NYC.  Not sure how I will be able to top these next year.  Lots of thinking to do about that one.

I wasn't able to get people together for a Bare Escentuals Girlfriends Party locally around my birthday because May was too hectic for everyone.  After trying 2 different dates in May, I gave up and canceled.  Now happily, I seem to have interest so I am going to try to schedule one for June or July instead.  It won't be a birthday party but a BE girlfriends party is still lots of fun.

I messaged Kathy at the Times Square Bare Escentuals boutique and she was totally open to any times and dates I wanted to come.  I put out my feelers and figured that Sat May 7 would work well.  She gave me the OK and I sent out the invite on facebook. This boutique is my favorite one.  I probably should not play favorites but the boutique is so pretty and everyone who works there is amazing and so nice. I feel like it is my NYC home base.  I had lots of maybes turn to yes's and lots of yes's turn to no's but it all worked out great.  We had a fantastic group of ladies enjoying time together.

The BE boutique was so fabulous.  They even decorated for my birthday which felt so special, especially since I had a very low key birthday at home.  There were balloons, Happy Birthday banners and little goody bags for all of us. I had gotten there early to drop off the cupcakes and my bags because my arms were about to fall off but I was immediately shooed away so they could surprise me with this.

Many of us got our make up done.  Kathy did mine and used BE High Shine in Frost, High Shine Moonshine and Berry Flambe. She also used Escape blush & Pretty Amazing in Fearless for my lips.  It looked really pretty and purpley which I love. After make up, we all chatted and ate cupcakes.  I had ordered 2 dozen and a dozen mini cupcakes from my fave cupcakery, Bettie's Cakes in Saratoga Springs.  I am not sure how I managed but I was able to pick them up, carry them to my car, transport them home, then back out to the car, to the train station, then onto the train, then out of Penn Station and over to the bus stop where I waited for my friend Ashley to arrive and then we carried them to Times Square to drop off for the party.  Not 1 cupcake was harmed in this delivery time LOL  They were of course harmed when we ate them!

Kathy doing my eye make up
Our After Makeunder Photo: Ashley and Me
Of course, while eating cupcakes, my friend had brought some of her new BE goodies for show & tell.  Everyone had fun looking and testing new colors and products that just came out but are not in boutiques yet.  Once show & tell was over, it was time to shop, which had to pause for present opening.  I cannot believe how sweet everyone was.  I am extremely grateful for every gift I received and so many of the bday cards had cupcakes on them, how very me! What a wonderfully generous and sweet group of ladies!!! *hugs* to you all! I hope to see you again soon.

As for my BE bday shopping, I purchased a customizable eye case and a customizable lip case.  If you don't know what they are, Bare Escentuals often does a new seasonal make up bag and you can purchase 3 colors with the bag for a certain price.  With the current ones, you can get a customizable eye case with mini mirror along with any 3 eye colors or a customizable lip case with mini mirror with 3 lippies for $39. I did both and the colors I picked with them were High Shine Vapor (tube), High Shine Rose Gold (tube) and High Shine Gold Medal (tube) for the eyes and Pretty Amazing in Strength, Pretty Amazing in Free Will and Buxom Vanessa.
They decorated me when I went to leave the boutique LOL
