A Bare Escentuals look with Cultured Pearl, Berry Custard, Mystery & Opera (and a pic of me with hair extensions)

I am wearing:
  • BE Brightening Prime Time for face
  • BE foundation in Golden Fair
  • BE Bisque as concealer
  • BE Faux Tan Matte
  • BE Blush in Fulfill
  • BE Mineral Veil
  • BE Brightening Eye Primer (original champagne tint)
  • BE Cultured Pearl from lash to brow
  • BE Berry Custard on lids
  • BE Mystery in crease & V
  • BE Opera wetlined
  • BE Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara in Black
  • BE 100% Natural Lip Gloss in Birthday Cake

I ordered a Pop Hair - Two Piece Clip in Extensions - Wavy in Chestnut when they were on Hautelook and I am surprised at how well it matches my hair. I decided to try take some pics to share today since I finally got myself using my diffuser again.  Lately, air drying has been making my hair too flat and it didn't look good with the clip in waves. I have really fine hair and it just doesn't keep its body when it gets past my shoulders so it is a lot of fun to see me in really nice long hair. It might seem like it is too dark underneath but that is how my natural hair looks too if you look in the pic above.

A Preview of the Bare Escentuals Skincare Brighten & Renew Power Trio

I got to try a sample of the brand spanking new Bare Escentuals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer Cream for dry skin and fell in love.  Normally, I do not have dry skin.  I am more of a sensitive combo skin girl who reacts to harsh products and chemicals, gets dry itchy patches while still being able to get pretty oily and greasy.  In the winter though, my skin gets pretty dried out.  The cold air and the constant artificial heat really dries me out more each year. This new moisturizer seems to be just what I need to keep my skin hydrating without making it turn into an oil slick.  My face feels soft and has no dryness or flakiness which often happens in winter.   I was also able to try a sample of the neck cream a while ago thanks to my fellow blogger and awesome friend Kesha. Thanks Kesha!

The QVC Insider had pre-order numbers available for the Brighten & Renew Power Trio.  It can come in a one time shipment or auto-delivery.  After I tried the moisturizer for a couple weeks, I decided it was right for me and placed my pre-order.  It arrived yesterday.  I wanted to share some pics and info because I really think these are great products.  It took me a while to get into the BE skincare line because I had a potential soy allergy and none of my doctors seemed to have an official stand on my use of skincare with soy in it.  My latest allergy tests showed no allergy so I am going with it and using this skincare.

QVC Pre-order #s  Single Shipment: A214234  OR  Auto-Delivery: A215304 (Looks like the pre-order quantities might be sold out)
The original TSV day on QVC was delayed and it is likely to be March 8, 2011. If anything changes, I will let you know!

Brush Series: Blush Brushes

Next in my series on brushes are Bare Escentuals blush brushes.  I am going to talk about the angled blush brush, the tapered blush brush, the contour blush brush and the mini-tapered blush brush. Though I talk about BE brushes, a lot of what I say could be the same for other similarly styled brushes.

For all of these blushes, you want to take a tiny bit of BE blush color and swirl the brush in the lid.  Then tap off any excess and apply it to your cheeks.  You really do not want a lot of color because the color will warm to your skin and be more vivid later.  Apply enough to see some color on your cheeks but if it looks bright or bold now, it will look the same or more so later. If you apply too much blush, don't fret.  You can simply blend it out with a brush or your hand.  Then apply mineral veil over it and you should be fine.  I usually blend it with my hands, just a gentle wipe over my cheek a few times until it is toned down a bit.

I will talk about them in the order they are in the pic above.

The mini-tapered blush brush - This little pink brush is awesome.  First off, the brush has synthetic bristles.  Their texture is different, very smooth and soft.  This is great if you want to stick with animal friendly brushes.  It is a full size blush brush head on a mini handle.  It is great for travel or keeping in your purse but also for daily use. Even though the brush head is a tapered blush brush, it is different than the traditional tapered blush brush with natural bristles.  This will glide soft and light as air against your skin.  Start your application by smiling and applying to the apple of the cheek, then sweep softly up towards the outer corner of your eye. When you do this, you somewhat spin the bristles of the brush so that the shorter end of the brush ends up pointing upwards at the end. I hope the pics above help explain this a bit.

The angled blush brush is my all-time favorite blush brush. It is a classic. The bristles are natural. I find that the angle of the brush and the tapered bristled really apply blush perfectly. I like to apply in a way that Leslie Blodgett sometimes demonstrates. I smile and apply to the apple of my cheek first, then I angle the brush and glide it across my cheekbone and upwards towards my outer corner of my eye.

The tapered blush brush is the old school blush brush in my opinion.  This one is traditional.  It has natural bristles and it just right for blush application.  Start with the apple of your smiling cheek and then sweep across your cheekbone.  You can even circle all the way up around your eye if you want to.

The Contour Blush Brush is from the magnetic brush with Genius that I talked about in my last brush blog entry on magnetic brushes.

This brush is super soft and fluffy.  It is much more full than other blush brushes but I love it. If you want a little more blush application, this is the brush for you.  As you can see in the pic, it is a bit bigger but it fits the apple of your cheek perfectly.

New Year Bare Escentuals Inventory Confession Time and Nirvana Update

I am still working on my BE Nirvana Part 2. I seem to be making more progress and I am really motivated to finish and wear each of my eye colors once without repeating.  I have been in sorting, organizing and inventory mode with the holidays done so I decided to do a more thorough inventory of my Bare Escentuals collection too.  Here are the details of my collection and my Nirvana update.

Collection Details:
# of BE Eye Colors in Full Size Jars: 295 (2 of them are XL tub size colors)
# of BE Eye Colors 1/2 in Original Jars: 23
# of BE Eye Colors in mini jars: 71
# of BE Eye Colors in sample jars: 83
Total count of BE eye colors: 472  (This count is of each eye color, duplicates are not counted)

The BE Nirvana Update!  So far I have worn a total of 329 eye colors without repeating.  Woohoo!  I only have 143 more colors to wear and I am done.  It is pretty obvious which colors are my favorites since I have worn all my green and purple shades.
